1.
in a unknown field in northern Virginia, a bull named Taurus was born, he were born male, and treated as such on the barn as such. he were tagged, branded, and after weening was finished, chosen to be a breeding bull rather than for beef consumption. at night, after eating the grass he was given, and attempting to mate with so many cows, he realized he were not satisfied with his gender. but there is nothing he could do about it. after many attempts, he found her, a heifer named buttercup. they spent much of their lives with each other. eating, sleeping, and when hands forced them, trying to conceive a calf. they often had conversations about the music buttercup was played during her milking sessions, Mozart, Bach, Beethoven. how they were jealous of their wive's luck, a bull would never be caught dead listening to Mozart. in one of these conversations, they told buttercup of their jealousy and their strange epiphany that one night. and absurd as it may be, buttercup was completely accepting, even calling them "her wife Tauri". and Taurus finally felt like her own soul, loved by the one closest to her.
2.
as she drifted into sleep, taurus dreamed of the stars, and meeting the constellations. of outrunning the mighty orion, running with the majestic monoceros, and perhaps speaking to it's auriga. she realized in the heavens that being a bull meant nothing, the stars and the endless space where as accepting as she could get. she was named after a constellation, of a bull legendary enough to warrant it's likeness being in the stars. perhaps she and her lover could be given that honor themselves? she could truly only dream.
3.
it was a bright saturday morning, and Taurus was feeling well rested and energetic. despite her issues getting up and staying up that had been with her through her life, she was feeling good about the day. she quickly caught up with buttercup, who was much more joyous about speaking to her than she ever had. they were discussing music again, and knowing now where her love's jealousy came from, buttercup promised Tauri that she would find a way to get her headphones to Tauri's ears. taurus could've jumped for joy if she was able to. all seemed well, as today was looking like a great day.
4.
suddenly, she fell to her knees, and she struggled to get back up. her nervous system crumbled into pieces. she was becoming colder, as her mind become more and more furious for no reason she could tell. it was pure pain, and as it faded, so did she. buttercup could only watch in horror, her Tauri was dead.
5.
buttercup couldn't even glance at her wive's dead corpse without crying. she couldn't stand to see the flies eat at Taurus's face, she wasn't anywhere near Taurus's corpse when they found it. what they found instead was much more peculiar to see. on her ears were a set of headphones, headphones that were playing a classical piece. they couldn't find any reason why it could've been placed on the head of this bull. yet there it was. no one knows where they came from. all that is known is that they are the only headphones on the farm with visible bite marks on them
6.
a cow only mourns for 2-3 days when a calf dies. buttercup grieved for much longer. she continued to sniff the ground where Taurus last lay, desperate to track where she went, more desperate to remember what her scent even was. she was often found weeping in the corner of fences and trees in grief. she was never quite the same
7.
she expected nothing. life was a sick joke to her, so why'd she expect something nice. what she got was darkness. she touched her chest. with her hand, and her chest wasn't masculine. she was in the deep abyss, and her horns were glowing
